I wanted to start this year with the positive attitude and for that you have to be happy. To stay happy, do something that you like doing the most. So, coming back to my favorite past time, doing up my house is that makes me happy. But this time as I said with a bang. That can be what else getting the house repainted after almost 5yrs (Yes, you have read it right...5 yrs). Dear friends, I need your help badly. It’s been a couple of days trying to change the look of my sofa. For me I can’t stick to one style. Thinking of inviting some turquoise beauty in my house too, got this handmade wrap around from my mom, to play around with it. But the idea seems to be a flop, ‘coz I am not able to mix n match pillows with it.

At last this is the option I could work on plssss help me now. Here and here is what actually it was sometime before.

Scorching summer heat is back, after the windy shower last weekend here in Delhi. My garden is looking ever so beautiful these days. The bird nest and hanging plants are getting the shady shelter at least.

So, without talking much about it, pictures will say more than words today.

A Birthday to remember....

Some Birthday’s are always to remember, and a person would never like to forget it. This was one of my best Birthdays till now. Well it was nothing about Solitaires, Candle light dinners if you are thinking that……*wink*. It was my daughter of eight who surprised me. And the Best part she did not let me come out of my room from 11-12 am (on the night before birthday). I kept on saying her baby it is already 12 and she kept on saying just wait for 2 more minutes, and in between she also said just wait till 1’0 clock. Hearing this me and my husband laughed our heart out and then at last at 12:15 am, I was allowed to come out. I entered the Drawing room, lights were off and the cake (oh it was actually an ice-cream) with the candles lit. Wow! What a memorable scene. I can never forget. And then they all shouted Happy Birthday!!!

Once they switched the lights, the room was not the same. I liked each and everything done by her (she is still a small baby for me). And I know all my blogger friends would agree to this, kids will always be kids for there mothers whether they grow up to adults also.

Talking about birds in my previous post reminds me of this cage which is hanging at my entrance. The other day I went to the vet shop to get food (Dog biscuits…Oh! she loves them) for my dog and fish food. I saw this cage thrown up at the corner. I have always admired the variety of cages used as a decor and styling thing. So, here I have experimented, although it is just kind of first step to my kind of styling as a beginner. I hope you like it and give me further ideas to work upon it as in.

I bought this cage thinking that I will put a plant inside it which right now is above. And to laugh upon didn’t think of the door which is so tiny. Of which I realized after hanging the cage here. I was actually laughing on myself. Then I made a small bird sit inside the cage here *peek a boo*.

Birds need you this summer.

Summer is at its peak. It has already crossed 39C.

Many birds die in summer due to lack of water.

Place water pots for thirsty birds in Terraces, Compound wall & Balconies.

These messages and emails are making a round everywhere, and me being an animal lover also would appeal all the people who are reading this to do their tiny bit by keeping a bowl of fresh water out side your balcony or garden.

I don’t like to stay away from Blogging World, but I don’t have any choice. Cause I am doing my studies and have to give exams each month. So for few days of the month I will be away. Well as of now I am free and the weekend is near the corner. So, I just want to grab a Book from my bookshelf. Now which one should I pick please give me any idea.

This would be a relaxing weekend. The first thing I want is to sleep (just love like anything) for at least fifteen hours. Second, gonna catch a book with my special homemade brewed Coffee. Third, a cozy corner and for hours just read, read and read.

Wow! Right now it is in my mind and I am surly going to make it a reality although I have to do lot of other things too this weekend, cleaning and de-cluttering as it is over a week I over-looked so many things.*phew*
My dear friend Sulagna from pink n black just asked me that is she the only one to find all the books in Red, Orange pattern. Actually i forgot to mention that this is one of the section of my bookshelf. Well i have arranged all my books in color pattern.....*wink wink*

The other day while placing my favorite 'ARIEN' coffee mug in the sink, don’t know how it hit the counter top and splintered from one side. I was astounded and upset *aghast*. So quickly I tucked up the broken pieces with glue. After ward it didn’t look that bad but it could not be used for the same purpose again.

But, my Green Love helped me out. So, here is the new approach. I felt a little better thereafter.

Some couple of months back, one of a lazy Sunday…I was catching a few ‘z’s in my room when I heard of some sound. I suddenly got up and looked around the room. Then I went around the house as of where the sound came from and there I followed the door to my garden where I saw a beautiful Peacock standing still in the garden. I was besieged……. at once ran to call my daughter. Got hold of the camera and just managed to get a mere click, seeing us, the peacock flew away to the nearby wall. But, for a moment we were thrilled and exult seeing the bird in our garden *sighhhhh*

Somewhere I heard, this aphorism that if you find birds close to your vicinity often, then you stay in a very healthy environment *wink*.

Weekend Wrap up -1!!

My weekend was full of cleaning, cleaning and de-cluttering. With the start of the new school session for my daughter, I removed all her old books and made space for the new ones. Then I also packed up all the winter clothes. The cupboard looks orderly, neat and tidy. In fact I made and placed tag above her clothes line for her ease.

For every season I have to shop for her clothes ‘cause of her speedy growth. So for now the summer shopping list is endless *groan*.

I am especially happy about this Monday because today I have got off from work. With me and I think for many people Monday is a difficult day at work. For the reason that we are still on a holiday mood. Most of my Monday's are sleepy and sluggish because of the eventful Sunday (which generally we avoid..still).

This flower-do as in the picture above is not done my ME (in fact it was done by my sweet maid last week). My in-laws and family had to visit my place when I was at work. So I instructed her to pluck some flowers from the garden (which generally I avoid.....) and place them in the silver glass of water. Well she did a notable work and the flowers gave a refreshing feel to the room too.

After going through Patty’s latest Blog post related to her girl’s exquisite Room walls {Patty you Rock!!!}. It reminded me of sharing with you my daughter’s study corner too. About which I discussed with you here some time back and just forgot to post….

I gave the makeover to the boring BLUE color chair we had previously. I painted the legs WHITE then got a thick cloth and I actually stitched it myself…now how don’t ask meee….phewwww!!

But at least it looked better then that chair.

And hey don't go by the pictures.....the table does not looks the same neat n tidy always...

Just I had a GOOD DAY hahaha *wink*

Green Thumb Decor Part-2

Hi Friends, Here is another vista of the doorway. I discussed about this breathing space here last year too. With little amendments here and there it looks like this now.

I got some animal pots too and thought of putting them at the evident entrance only.

This brass bell is my husbands (all by himself) purchase during the trade fair -2010 and till date it is hard to believe that day when while roving around in the fair we got separated for some soul-shopping and when we met after half-an-hour in my hand was this Hand painted Terracotta Red Bell hanging above and he had this Brass Bell *wink, wink*.

Since December I was not able to update my blog because of my password being hacked. I felt ghastly as not able to update soooo many things.

But forgetting the past I am back and I am so happy bout it. The first thing I would like to do is attach this post with patty’s blog…so longing to do so.

This is a view of my teeny-winny garden under the stairs at the entrance.

Then I also painted permanently the pattern on the floor with white paint. The idea was given by my husband when I was making the pattern on diwali. He gave an idea of painting it permanently with white paint. I was overwhelmed with the idea and finally it is there.

Before I had this boring and dull, huge Grill. But then with the arrival of the spring yearning for flowers got the idea of hanging some plant on the grill also and they have come out really pretty. What say Girls.. But eeeeek that welded hook needs to be painted tooo.

And thereeee you can see my sweet little bitch has also come into the picture. Well her name is fruity but I must say she is not that juicy. She is a real bitch. She is very clever, fiery and active. But yes she loves us more then we love her(yah I m serious, or i can say she is more expressive). Last year when our maid had gone for a holiday and nobody used to be home as we were all at work. My neighbors used to complain of her crying(actually, which could be heard from 1/2km also) and that also whole day long. And once when we were back she was fine as if nothing happened. But yess our house had definitely become famous among neighbors to talk about....lols

Last Sunday, my daughter was super excited waiting for her nanu to come. She wanted to do up her room herself. And then suddenly she got an idea of decorating the Christmas Tree. Nothing can stop her from that. With full energy and with whatever she got to hang on it was out of my house. And well the tree looked as sweet as her and so this post goes to her.

I always longed for a piece of art for hanging accessories etc. And then just one fine day while window shopping got to see this Art and immediately fall in love with it. The Delicacy and gracefulness is simply out of the world.

Oh! I am in love with my garden these days. I just can't get my eyes over it. The seeds have got saplings and they look so pretty, actually when they are small.

My garlic plants have also started showing well. I have already started using garlic leaves for my special chutney. Where ever I should avoid it at this point of time as it is too early. Hopefully the cloves get enough time to sprout and get a good head start growing before the ground freezes.

The fenugreek greens look their best these days…wow!

Soon my garden is going to give me treats almost everyday.

This weekend I have to replant some of the bare spots where the spinach didn't germinate.

I had made so many plans for the coming commonwealth break...but planning sometimes fails too. Catching up with the worst viral in my life...all my plans to celebrate my baby's birthday were spoiled. But where there is a will there is a way....and the birthday came out to be not as bad as planned. I could somehow manage to make it a HIT.

Still recovering from the weakness, I can only manage to share with you some invitees which me and my daughter made it in almost 6 days. We could only cut out 1-2 each day(we hardly had any energy).

The Theme was a FAIRY PARTY where girls had to dress up as FAIRIES and boys as PRINCE.

During my early morning walks. On the way I used to admire this plant (cant get the name) with this lovely flower. I don't know why but the color was so appealing and I was in awe of the plant. As like my dear friend patty I too discourage plucking flowers. And today my stoke of luck during the walk saw this flower stylishly positioned on the grass. Hesitantly I picked it up and here I was so ecstatic and thrilled, like a toddler in high spirits.

Today adding to my assets is my latest buy ... couple of Hindi Novels (picked up today from Hindi book fair in school)

We all love doing our homes. SO TRUE.. But what if the decor adds up to savings.

YESSSSSSS... Recently I have installed a Solar light in my kitchen. And Believe me it is fun decorating as well as saving and a positive step towards GLOBAL WARMING...

I am a very nature loving person and try using natural light during the day..and actually I cannot stand by the bulbs and tube lights during the day time. The same I teach my daughter(well my teacher instincts.. and actually her current topic in school is Environment also) to use as much as you can NATURAL LIGHT only.

I always loved my Kitchen WINDOW and now to add to its charm is the SOLAR LIGHT (so effective and useful)

7. Offer to help your parents keep the air filters on your AC and furnace clean.

8. Walk short distances instead of asking for a ride in a car.

9. Plant trees.

This lovely weather is so awe-inspiring. The fresh breeze and so green everywhere does not let me budge away from my beautiful garden for hours these days.

That reminds me of, some two days back, I went book shopping for my husband on his birthday. What cached the glimpse of my eyes was this book about WARREN BUFFETT-THE SNOWBALL. I am a great admirer of him.

Forgetting that I had come to buy book for my husband, I was determined right away to buy this book. Well I picked up couple of books for him too and not to forget a book for my daughter and to close the bracket my sweet maid is also a book lover. (it is always.. if BOOKS ,then for the family-LOL..)So I picked up a Hindi book on Premchand for her also.

Although the book was quite overweight and will I ever be able to complete this book. But believe me I thought may be I would be able to read 4-5 pages a time only. It is this book about billionaires which is really this entertaining and brutally honest. A thoughtful and intimate biography of the globe’s wisest investor.

OLD IS GOLD..

I had a pretty good collection of very old coins. Coins which are more than 100yrs old from all over the world. But the collection is of no use unless it is seen and appreciated. For days they were closed in the bottle. That is absolutely no value. Then I thought of giving them there space and the actual importance.

As OLD IS GOLD...

Just got the frame from the market. And can you be believe it, I made the mount myself and pasted the coins on it. Not very tough but took good time.

and as goes the saying HARD WORK PAYS..

I placed it at the corner with a height just above the sofa,

So that it can be visible and readable if required.

That made an antique innovative corner in a contemporary home.

I always needed an Aluminum Ladder for day to day life and use. But just I was hesitant to buy it because once it is not in use I had seen it lying at places soaking under the sun throughout like a trash or junk in verandas or porch.

But then I got an idea, bought it the same day from the market. I tell you guys it is worth buying ... actually so useful.

And then got it painted and WHEN NOT IN USE, it came out to be a stunning WHITE stand with shelves for pots standing pretty in my kitchen garden.

And now my ladder is not just a ladder as it had a make over to a beautiful artifact of my kitchen garden when not in use.

A new addition to the window of my Sitting Room is a mini book rack. YES WHY NOT? I used an old antique wooden tray to keep magazines or books. It is so convenient while relaxing you can just grab on a book or a magazine.

And here on my kind of discovery you can see my favorite magazines, “Good housekeeping”. Good Housekeeping also has online source for advice about food, diet, beauty, health, family and home virtually here. You can subscribe this book online too.

Well, inside the mini book rack placed is this adorable FengShui Elephant.
This was gifted by a very good friend of mine on my last birthday.

The elephant has long been a symbol of strength, power, virility, longevity, fidelity, dignity, intelligence and wisdom and is considered a sacred creature. In many cultures, the elephant is admired as the most marvelous creature in creation.

In Feng Shui, the elephant is used for a variety of reasons: LOVE, FERTILITY, EDUCATION AND GOODLUCK.

On my last visit to doon, I found some old wooden birds lying in the store.Which I couldn't ignore thrown away like that. Although I didn't knew how I am going to use them, but after coming from doon they kept lying in my house for a month or so. Then yesterday just thinking of giving some creative work to my daughter, we both planned to paint it in black. And she helped me painting it BLACK. We left it for drying overnite. In the morning the first thing after coming from the garden, WHERE TO HANG THEM??? At first we both agreed on putting them in her room, but at last I thought of hanging them in our dining area, matching the decor of the room. And they came out to be RAVISHING BEAUTIFUL.

but the light in the room didn't favoured me, the pictures came out were just OK....so please bear wid me

Sitting on them is so relaxing and comfortable that I absolutely forgot my Sofa. So comfy to sit for hours and work on my laptop.
